Swirls

Gauche on paper. March 22, 2009.

It was a beautiful day so I took a pad of paper and paint outside. For some reason, I had this vision of swirling parallel lines of colors, and I decided to try using gauche to get that effect. Who knows where the naked elf girl came from! I haven’t painted any human beings (or elves) in years… only landscapes… and you can tell. I had a bit of trouble with her face (I’ve always hated drawing mouths) and her neck is too skinny and a little off center… but I like the swirls. They were a lot of fun to play with.
